Hello God experiences? The sudden insight! Those “Oh, yeah, Lord, I get it” moments!

Hello God happenings are those times when you are battered by adversity, overwhelmed by trivia, or lost from meaning, and quite unexpectedly you see the hand of God. You learn. You grow.

Many of the devotions in this book were Hello God experiences for me. I hope and pray that each one of them will be the same for you. I pray that you will be struck by, and confronted with, the awesome reality of God’s presence and His love and grace in your daily life.

My evangelical faith and ecumenical spirit shape these devotions. I don’t believe that those values are antithetical. They have been tested overseas and at home, in every conceivable context, and during nearly 50 years of ministry.

In following God’s will for my life I have lived a long series of adventures, notable experiences, with some hardships: a true spiritual odyssey. Through all of them I have known that the Lord Jesus was walking with me, that His love for me was unfailing, and His grace was powerful to save.

Interspersed though out the book are devotions that move around on the calendar. You will find Ash Wednesday between January and February. Holy Week devotions are at the end of March. Ascension and Pentecost Sunday are between April and May. Thanksgiving Day is before November. Advent and Hanukkah are between November and December. These are extra devotions that I hope you will use in addition to the regular, dated devotions.
